BARRIERS
A road safety barrier is a vehicle restraint system installed to contain and redirect any vehicle along the roadway.Hard barriers are fixed or removable guards which prevent entry. These include fences, traffic barriers, and crush barriers. Soft barriers are devices such as light curtains. They detect the presence of a foreign body and are tied into the control circuit to stop the machine.Safety barriers are physical or non-physical means planned to prevent, control, or mitigate undesired events or accidents. Barrier systems may be classified according to several dimensions, for example as passive or active barrier systems, and as physical, technical, or human/operational barrier systems. There are several categories of barricades based on function and design, including three main types of traffic barricades (Type I, II, and III) for roadwork, and other types like A-frame, water-filled, and smart barricades, plus specialized barricades such as pedestrian, concrete, and security barriers. The specific number of “types” varies depending on how they are classified, but all serve to control access or warn of hazards.
